D-GIFTED MINDS MATHEMATICS CHALLENGE

D-Gifted Minds Mathematics Challenge is an annual mathematics quiz competition organized among SS 2 students in high schools (public/government only) in Nigeria between the ages of 14 - 17 years targeted mainly at the very less privileged students. You will agree with us that our educational standard in Nigeria is at its lowest ebb and the rate of poverty increases at an exponential rate which causes so many out of school children in the society, hence the importance of this competition as it aimed at basically providing financial support to smart kids from a very poor background.


OUR OBJECTIVES

  1. To arouse and sustain keen interest in mathematics among high school students in Nigeria.
  2. To raise the standard of education and reward excellence with educational grants through an unbiased competition that would promote sound education in Nigeria. 
  3. To give opportunity to the very less privileged young Nigerians to showcase their God given mathematical talent Nation wide.
  4. To create a motivational and competitive environment among government school students.
  5. To expose high school students in Nigeria to solving mathematics problems with a computer system.

(PLEASE NOTE: To be eligible for this competition; (i.) You must be from a poor family background; and (ii.) You must be gifted and talented in mathematics. No students in private school is allowed).


HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN DGMMC SEASON 4, 2021

  1. This competition is open to students in SS 1 or SS 2 between 14 - 17 years; attending full time Secondary Education only in Public Schools in Nigeria.
  2. Participation in this competition is totally FREE.
  3. Registration to participate is strictly online via www.dgmmc.blogspot.com 
  4. Each School is required to present their BEST five (5) students in Mathematics (SS 1 or SS 2 students), irrespective of religion, tribe or state of Origin, to enhance their chances of qualifying for the second round of the competition.
  5. Mixed-schools are required to have at least TWO female students-amongst the FIVE(5) that would represent them.
  6. This season's competition is open only to FCT schools.
  7. There are SIX(6) examination centers in FCT.
  8. All interested school/candidates are expected to complete their online registrations on or before Monday, 8th March, 2019.

THE EXAMINATION

There are two main levels of the competition.

FIRST ROUND: WRITTEN QUALIFYING EXAMINATION

In this stage, all the online registered students' (i.e the best FIVE(5) from each registered school) will write a qualifying examination at designated centers across FCT, Abuja.

Each school is to prepare their representatives for the qualifying exams in based on the current WAEC/NECO syllabuses.

THE QUALIFYING EXAMS

60 Objective questions (60 marks) and 4 Theory questions (40 marks) all in 60 minutes.

SECOND/FINAL ROUND: TV QUIZ COMPETITION

The best 20 students (with the highest scores) out of those who wrote the qualifying examination will be invited to participate at this stage of the competition. This will be recorded and transmitted on Television across Nigeria.

The overall best three students will be recognized, crowned and given trophy.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

  1. D-Gifted Minds Mathematics challenge qualifying examination will be scheduled ASAP, please check the list of centers on www.dgmmc.blogspot.com
  2. Students must come to their designated examination centers by 9:00 am for accreditation with a print out of their complete registration forms that will be sent to the school email duly signed and stamped by their school principal.
  3. Examination starts at 10:00 am prompt. Latecomers will not be allowed to write the examination.
  4. Students are to come along with only HB pencil, eraser, ruler and statistical table, NO CALCULATORS WILL BE ALLOWED.
  5. Students must conduct themselves in an orderly manner.
  6. Any act of misconduct will lead to disqualification of the student.
  7. All students MUST come to the exam venue in their School Uniform.
  8. Please refer to examination center list to check for the center nearest to you.
  9. The competition is open to SS 1 or SS 2 public school students in FCT only.
  10. Each school is to prepare their representatives for the qualifying exams based on the current SS 2 WAEC/NECO Syllabuses.

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. Students are advised to check their results via the online platform that will be made available to them as at when due
  2. We strongly recommend that students sit for the examination at centers nearest to them
  3. Only qualified students will be contacted for the second stage (TV quiz) of the competition (NOTE: To be eligible for this competition; (i.) You must be from a poor family background; and (ii.) You must be gifted and talented in mathematics. No students in private school is allowed).
  4. D-Gifted Minds Mathematics Challenge is to reward the intelligence of young mathematics lovers and motivate others
